'Paint me like one of your French girls': 40 Cats Purrfectly Posing for Accidental Renaissance Realpurrism

The Accidental Renaissance picture genre is so dramatic that it fits cats like a glove to a paw.

There's something extra striking about still moments in time that look like a master painting from the Renaissance era - they all embodied a revolutionary shift toward realism, humanism, and Greco-Roman classicism. Or in other words, art was full of the entire range of human emotions engulfed in a lot of dramatic lighting and tragic messaging. So, naturally, cats do it best. Drama and emotion, coupled with being purrfect models for the camera, is the combination that's right up our cats' alley.

Are we surprised cats do it better than any other potential Accidental Renaissance models? Not in the slightest. But does it mean that we're tired of seeing them striking these dramatic poses? Not at all. We want to see more and more of it. And that's exactly why we asked our darling cat community of the I Can Has Facebook page to show us their cats doing their best, most intentional Accidental Renaissance poses. Honestly, it feels like walking through a museum.
